This programme recognises excellence in research and supports women scientists in their transition to leadership positions.

"To the Mothers of Science" is a fellowship programme to acknowledge excellence in research and support women scientists in their professional transition to leadership positions.

Last 23st July, it has announced the winners, saying that "The second edition of the To the Mothers of Science programme coincides with a delicate moment in time due to the COVID-19 pandemic and all programme winners have expressed the difficulties associated with working from home with their children, some stressing that the burden of childcare has fallen on them". Among them is the Senior Researcher and coordinator of the “Metal-Organic and Organic Delivery Systems” division Dr. Mary Cano of the ICN2 Supramolecular NanoChemistry & Materials Group led by ICREA Prof. Daniel Maspoch.

The applicants will have the opportunity to participate in a coaching programme run by Victòria Conesa and the 10 awardees will also receive a monthly stipend of € 400 for a maximum of one year. Most of the researchers selected this year say they will use their salary top-up towards saving time, both for research and to be with their families.

Congratulations Dr. Mary Cano!
